I have a very old heavier wooden version of this rack that I consider a treasured laundry tool. With my massage business, I often have more laundry than fit on the old rack, so I added this rack to my laundry room. It works great, is well constructed for the price, and is strong and stable as long as you load it evenly. The only thing I would change, and might do by added friction tape, is having a slight texture to the horizontal rods where laundry hangs. If not hung in a balanced fashion, some fine texture fabrics can slide off. I have read some reviews that said this rack is flimsy, but my opinion differs. Yes, it will hunker down a bit when loaded, but that's how it absorbs the weight of the load placed on it. It does not tend to tip or fall over. This rack even stands up to the load of partially dried Egyptian cotton bath rugs that are very heavy. I have room to leave it up all the time, but it does fold very flat for storage if a person has less room than I have. The item itself is OK, but it arrived with a broken dowel and in a box so damaged I couldn't use it to return the item. Amazon would only accept a return , and it was a special size box not readily available. So I taped the broken dowel and use it that way. The item is OK, but Amazon service failed.I had purchased this style of folding rack about 10 years ago for college. I then gave it to my mom thinking I wouldn't use it anymore. Well, I was wrong. After going through about 5 different folding racks from walmart and Target - all of which broke on assembly - I went in search of this style again. It is the most sturdy folding rack I have ever found, but I'm giving it four stars because it is not of the quality it used to be. The wood was pretty rough and not well sanded, and it's a cheap, soft pine. My old had a better quality wood and was nicely sanded. It still serves the purpose and hasn't broken after surviving a winter long of heavy clothes, just expect to do a little sanding. When I took the drying rack out of the box I was dismayed at how light it was. I didn't think it would hold a load of towels or anything else heavy, but I was surprised when it held heavy loads quite well. I can even stretch a heavy comforter across this rack and another one and it does fine...until the wind starts coming up. The rack is very wobbly and even a light wind knocks it over if it's empty. We live in a windy area so this isn't good, but I've started doing laundry very early in the morning before the wind starts and I have to be sure to bring everything in before the rack blows over.I gave it an ok rating because it's strong enough to hold a lot of laundry, but that's the best I could do because it is so wobbly and blows over so easily.I purchased this drying rack to use at a crafts fair to display my silk scarves. Last year I borrowed a similar drying rack for the same purpose. The borrowed rack was older but of excellent quality, sturdy and solid. I decided I should have one of my own rather than borrow again, and I had wanted one for clothes drying anyway. My new rack arrived the day before I had to set up my display. With very little handling on my part, one of the top braces broke off in my hand while I was setting it up. It just splintered like toothpicks. If I didn't have an immediate need for it I would have definitely returned it. I held it together with a little glue and tuct tape. Now I will have to leave it as trash at the site because it will never fold down again to get in my vehicle. While I wasn't going to use it for its intended purpose, my scarves are no match for wet clothing. Overall, the wood is inferior, much like kindling wood, it wobbles when erected, and I certainly wouldn't recommend it for its intended purpose.Replaced our old folding clothes rack with this sturdier one. I really like the dowels as they have a plastic coating instead of just painted white wood (that eventually chips off). I use it a lot and it has several racks for holding multiple clothing I don't like to put in the dryer.no complaints. folding up takes a few extra seconds as the supports sometime get in awkward spots. not a real issue, only something for people with nothing to complain about to get concerned about.I was cautiously hopeful when we unpacked this drying rack. It seemed very light, and flimsy in comparison to the ones I was used to, but there didn't seem to be anything better out there for under $80(!). It wobbled a fair bit, even when loaded, and I wouldn't want to use it outdoors in the wind, but we hoped it would do the job.Unfortunately, one of the frame sections broke this week (I suspect it just cracked slowly over time), rendering the whole thing useless. We have only had it for about a year, and used it for light items during that time. I am disappointed - my last one lasted about 15 years, and I know of several that are older than I am!Save your money - you can do better elsewhere. My dog backed into it and one of the tellscopic arms broke.. It is made of a very I mean very lightweight pine. The first load we put on it nearly broke it from the small load so we had to remove some and hang elsewhere. With the picture I provided if you look at the dowelling it is not solid. The joints are very weak.To sum it up don't waste your hard earned money it will break.I have no words to express how cheap and unsteady this drying rack is. I don't encourage anyone to even take a second look at this item, check out other drying racks and be very skeptical about people who rave about how sturdy they are, as I noticed in the reviews on this item, I sure never got what they received and believe me I am not a picky person. The whole unit, as well as dowels flex like a rubber band, a broken dowel and believe me when I say I haven't even used it. Total waste of money !! So upset with myself that I made this purchase, I know better and learned a lesson when ordering online. Rant over!!It was not as sturdy as I had hoped, but I like the height!I purchased 2 of these clothes drying racks and I just love them! They are quite big, lightweight, and sturdy. It is great to hang your clothes outside to get the fresh air smell in your laundry! I would recommend them for houses or apartment balconies! Wonderful! I am very happy!well made and sturdy, i use this everyday. it can handle heavy bedlinens and clothing with no problem. i have mine set up by a baseboard electric heater in the winter and things are dry in just a couple of hours. saves the cost of using the dryer too.
